We have built two houses now. One with a builder and one by ourselves. With the builder you’re given a few options and you choose from those. With our own build I had the world of options and got seriously overwhelmed. I almost like having a few to choose from so I can do it quickly… Until this point, I didn’t know very much about Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP in the flooring world) or Resilient flooring but was able to see in person and with samples how durable, strong and life-like it was.

Like any real wood options – they range in cost, widths, textures, colors and wood species options to choose. There are some LVP options that will seriously trick you into thinking it’s real wood.

Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring is part of the Resilient Flooring category set by the flooring industry. What does that mean? It is firm yet has a “give or bounce back.” Here are some other facts about LVP and Resilient Flooring and why you should consider it in your build or remodels:

  • It looks just like real wood, down to the wood grain texture.
  • Easier to maintain and is more affordable than real wood.
  • The technology, quality and wood color selection improve as the years go on.
  • Cork and Linoleum are considered resilient flooring also. (And look just as good.)
  • It’s not your grandma’s 1980’s linoleum floors… Designs and quality are light years ahead.
  • These flooring options offer a cleaner, healthier interior environment. They are installed as a floating floor with no chemical adhesive They also meet industry standards for contributing to good indoor air quality and qualify for Low Emitting Material credits for LEED®, Green Globes® and other sustainable building requirements.

Look at all the options below. Aren’t they beautiful? Consider Resilient Flooring if you have kids or dogs because most options are waterproof or water-resistant and are pretty resistant to scratches and stains. They hold up extremely well to heavy traffic and pets.
