What do Do, Eat and Play at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines
Welcome to the Guide to Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort. Hands down one of our favorite resorts in Texas. I actually have a previous couple of posts about it. I took over 600 photos of the resort this year (topped my 500 from last year…) but don’t worry I won’t share all of them. From a resort pool with slide and lazy river to horse-back riding, clay shooting, award-winning golf, kids activities to no end, s’mores…. you seriously cannot beat this hotel.
It’s SO family-friendly but also perfect for romantic getaways too. We did our bachelorette party, our baby moon and our first vacation postpartum here! The spa is simply perfect for peace and quiet. During the Holidays they have Santa visiting, Christmas animal parades, reading with Mrs. Claus, ornaments, tree lightings and so much more. During the other parts of the year just subtract Santa and you still get all the fun. See our Lost Pines Road Trip Itinerary below!
Lost Pines Road Trip Itinerary
On the way to Hyatt Regency Lost Pines:
- Texas Pie Company – Pecan pie, duh.
- Berdoll’s Pecan Candy and Gift Co. – Pecans for snacking all weekend. (If you run out, they sell them in McDades!)
Arrive at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa
The renovated rooms are stunning. A little country and a little modern, which suits us perfectly. The floors are gorgeous light oak and the details give appreciation to Texas and the musicians that made it famous. We love the patios on each room to dit out and drink our coffee and watch the early golfer head to play.
Meet & Greet with Horses from Renegade Trailhead
Go on one of the activities with the beautiful horses from Renegade Trailhead. We met Dixie and she is a stunner!
12th Hole at Wolfdancer Golf Club
In addition to being the highest elevation point in Bastrop County, the 12th hole is among golfer’s favorite areas of our championship golf course. We could see sheeps in faraway farms and the entire Lower Colorado River! It is stunning. (Quick note – bring bug spray for the golf course! It was the only area we saw mosquitos but better be safe than sorry!)
Dinner at Shellers Barrelhouse Bar
Shellers Barrelhouse Bar pays tribute to the old barrelhouse style piano playing and the famous musicians that came from Bastrop. It also incorporates the historical pecan shelling plant that was predominant in 1947. They’ve brought the pecans indoors “shelling” them into our bar top and wood flooring. The signature drinks are inspired by small batch bourbons, local spirits and local craft brews.
S’mores Roasting at the Outdoor Firepit
We NEVER miss a s’mores opportunity. Ever. It our favorite late night snack at the Hyatt. And then we grab a seat at the outdoor movie, socially distanced, of course! Such fun family memories here.
Saturday:
Ala Carte Breakfast at Firewheel Café
Before you start your fun-filled day, settle in at Firewheel Cafe—named after a Texas wildflower—a bright and airy restaurant illuminated by stained-glass windows and handmade chandeliers. Southern-inspired dishes flood the menu, along with eclectic twists on classic dishes. The buffet is open with covid-19 protocols in place, but don’t worry, it’s just as good!!
Nature Days Activity
Learn more about wildlife that is local to the Lost Pines region while honing your survival skills. Learn how to build outdoor shelters, identify edible plants, and more. This is next door at McKinney Roughs and it is GORGEOUS out there. We made fire, saw an alligator and learned how to spot scat.
Facial Appointment and Lash Tint at Spa Django
60-minute HydroPeptide Custom Facial. The BEST facial I have ever had! No joke. Not exaggerating. You get a consultation with your esthetician who will customize the experience to fit your skin care preferences and needs. Relax in the relaxation room, the spa-only pool, separate hot tub and enjoy the day away from children…. or husband. Whichever you need a break from! My experience included a facial cleanse, tone, masque, exfoliation, and moisturizer selected from the HydroPeptide line of products. SO GOOD.
Shotgun Trap Shoot Activity for Chris
Showcase your expert marksmanship with the shotgun trap shoot experience. My husband loved this! Top quality shooting!
Meet the Mascots
Head over to the Barn at the Mascot Corral and get up-close and personal with our four-legged friends, including the miniature horses, one of the resort’s famous alpacas, and Nigerian pygmy goats! Willie, Waylon and all the boys will be happy to say hello!
Cabana at Crooked River Water Park
Enjoy the Crooked River Water Park in style at one of our private cabanas. And enjoy a few snacks and cocktails from Old Buck’s Place.
Sunday:
Repeat Firewheel and the Crooked River and then check out!
On the way home: Quick Stop at Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch
