Lakeway Resort and Spa: A Home away from Home

Literally two blocks down the road from our house is Lakeway Resort and Spa, one of the top 20 hotels in Texas and a Conde Nast Choice award winner in 2018. It overlooks the b-e-a-utiful Lake Travis and we couldn’t be more proud of it and the work they do in our community. When we found a weekend to have a staycation we hopped on the golf cart and popped right in.

With three pools, a swim-up bar, a spa, kid-friendly activities, and nearby golf and water sports, what more could you want in a waterfront resort.

We love this resort not only for the views and the pools and the comfy beds but for the fact that it’s a community institution. The resort was built in the 60’s y’all! It helped make Lakeway the gorgeous, lake community that it is. They even have a Community Cares team that meets once a month to decide how to help not only the Lake Travis area but a lot of Central Texas too. From meals on wheels straight from the TR kitchen to donating time and supplies to local, underprivileged schools, they do so much good work!

Back to the hotel itself: The rooms are spacious, modern and all have fantastic views. When you’re drinking your coffee on the patio you can see the sailboats pass right by. It was hard to get out of bed to even do that BUT I thoroughly enjoyed those mornings by the lake.

The pools are probably the best in Austin. One adult only pool with a swim up bar, a kid’s pool with a huge slide and then original pool with a big volleyball net. Basically something for everyone. The huge umbrellas and bellinis always are calling my name, no matter the weather.

On to the spa. Oh my goodness. I’ve lived in the area for 8 years and not once have a stepped in this magical place until this past stay. I might not ever be satisfied at another spa again. I did the seasonal body treatment and I pretty much died and went to heaven. You start off getting a warm robe and a glass of champagne in this gorgeous glass room overlooking the lake and the pools. This by itself would be good enough for me. The treatments vary from manicures to half-day packages. I loved every minute of it. Quiet, relaxing and no kid screaming at me.

Kid? I forgot about him for a minute. Mainly because they have a HUGE kids zone. It looks small from the outside but go in to see THREE bounce houses, a putt-putt golf course, a playroom with couches and movies, a toddler area and so much more. Kids can play for free and if they’re over five you can drop them off for a couple hours at a time! WHAT IS THIS LIFE?!

Don’t forget dinner at TR Restaurant, s’mores by the fire or their bubbly happy hour, too!

We took in all the bubbly hours, dinner at the TR restaurant, daily treats and Texas wine tasting, an afternoon spa day, a few hours by the pools and the kid zone, and a boat ride at Lakeway Marina in our weekend at Lakeway Resort and Spa. Trying to plan the next one… who’s in??
