Welcome to our first owner-build project, also known as the Hi Lovely Modern Farmhouse. Located on the banks of Lake Travis, this modern farmhouse will be designed by us and built by us. Join us in the process by following along. We can’t wait to see what you think!

Modern Farmhouse Floor Plans

We initially went the route of buying a floor plan. The process of searching went on for a good three months until we decided the cost of buying one and paying for all the changes we’d have to make was not worth it. We found an architect a drew what we wanted and it’s finally coming to life. Our Scandinavian Modern Farmhouse is finally coming to fruition. See more details and plans here.

Our Waterfront Lot:

We have a very skinny and long, waterfront lot on the banks of Lake Travis. Lake Travis is the largest lake in the Austin area and our personal favorite – the boating is perfect here. The waterfront lot was originally listed in the Houston area… big OOPS for the seller. We got the lot at a steal of a price and now we get to build our dream modern farmhouse.

These 3D renderings were done by an architect in California. We had the exterior renderings done first because that’s what we know we want 100%. The interior will come a bit later as we have a TON of decisions to make there. Some of them are interactive so visit this page to get the full effect.

What is an Owner Build House?

An owner-builder house is a house built by the owner of the property. The “owner-builder” acts as the general contractor on their own project. We hire the subcontractors, pay the bills, and order the materials, and oversee the house. We have partnered with an Owner-Builder consultant to map out the project for us for this first time. If all goes well, we’ll be doing a ton more!
